It's the end of an era and Fort Bragg in North Carolina as facility is now finally a closed military base.

Busy Fort Bragg Boulevard that allowed civilians to cut across the base near Fayetteville was closed Thursday to civilian traffic.

The decision to make Fort Bragg a closed base came after the Sept. 11th terror attacks 15 years ago.

But before Fort Bragg Boulevard could be closed to traffic passing through another nearby road had to be widened and an interstate extended.
