Chopper 11HD was overhead the scene of a car that went into a fire station in Durham

DURHAM (WTVD) -- A car slammed into a Durham fire station Monday afternoon, crashing through the exterior brick wall of the building.

It happened around 4:15 p.m. at Fire Station 14 on Umstead Road. Firefighters were at the station but were not injured, authorities say. The driver of the car had a minor injury.

Chopper 11HD was overhead as crews worked to clear the scene.

An unoccupied bedroom and bathroom were severely damaged.

The cause of the crash is still being investigated.
