Fayetteville ready for Halloween despite flooding
FAYETTEVILLE, NC (WTVD) -- Hurricane Matthew many have left behind a scary mess for many Fayetteville residents to clean up, but despite those recovery efforts, Halloween is still a go. In fact, in just days Hay Street will be filled with trick-or-treaters and the walking dead.
Halloween weekend kicks off Friday with the annual Zombie Walk. That includes food, games, and of course zombies.
Over the weekend, the Dogwood Fall Festival will be taking over Festival Park with everything from hayrides to haunted houses.

The event is now being designated as a hurricane recovery fundraiser.
The Fayetteville Downtown Alliance says all these events show how the city is able to bounce back from the storm.
"We are nothing if not resilient. We are ready for it all this weekend," said Sam Dubose with the Fayetteville Downtown Alliance.
The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office and Fayetteville Police Department are also reminding citizens as they do every year to stay safe
"Be careful. Don't walk out in the middle of traffic. Check your children's candy after the night when you get home. If you see anything suspicious call us," said Lt. Todd Joyce with the Fayetteville Police Department.

Hay Street is the place to be on Halloween. Merchants will be giving out candy and ABC11 will also be there giving out treats, so make sure you stop by and say hello.
