RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Raleigh Police told ABC11 that Capital Boulevard reopened ahead of the new timeline of 9 p.m. Tuesday night.

The road is now open to traffic.

Earlier, Raleigh Police said a water main break has closed the inbound lanes of Capital Boulevard in the vicinity of Fairview Road.

Inbound traffic will be diverted at Atlantic Avenue. Motorists should consider alternate routes.

Repaving operations are expected to be completed by 9 p.m. Tuesday, the city said Tuesday afternoon.

Businesses told ABC11 the situation has created challenges for them and customers.

The owner of Capital Auto said Monday is a typically a busy day and there's been a delay in getting auto parts to his shop.

No word yet on what caused the break.
