Duke students on edge after armed robbery
Two female Duke students were robbed near campus Tuesday night.

DURHAM, North Carolina (WTVD) -- Durham police are investigating the armed robbery of two female Duke University students off campus Tuesday night.

The robbery happened around 7:30 p.m. on Markham Avenue between the BP Gas Station and the car wash.

It happened near Duke's campus.

The victims told police the suspect used a handgun to threaten them. One of the women suffered a minor injury during the robbery.

According to a police incident report several items including a laptop, cellphones, credit cards, student ID, headphones and scarves were taken.

The suspect was last seen fleeing toward Ninth Street. He was described as a Hispanic man in his mid-20s and wearing a red hoodie.

"Makes me really scared to be out, especially after dark," neighbor Jennifer Edmunds said.
