The truck was jackknifed between the exits for Gorman Street and Avent Ferry Road in the Fortify construction area.
Police said the driver "lost traction" and crashed into a concrete median barrier.
A worker with FedEx said the driver of the truck was able to walk away from the scene.
The road didn't reopen until around 1 p.m. because crews had to repair the barrier.
The crash caused a huge traffic backup.
"I feel bad for people in that line," motorist Anton Lima told ABC11 when the road was still congested. "Because they can't get out either. They're screwed."
