Durham police investigating fatal crash after car slams into tree

DURHAM, North Carolina (WTVD) -- Durham police say speed was a factor in a deadly crash late Tuesday night.

It happened around 11 p.m. on Sprunt Avenue near Bellevue Avenue.

Police say 42-year-old Santos Armando Funes-Rivera lost control of a Nissan Versa and slammed into a tree.

Funes-Rivera, who was alone in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.
