68-year-old Sanford man shot to death

SANFORD, North Carolina (WTVD) -- A 68-year-old Sanford man was shot to death early Thursday morning, Sanford Police said.

Authorities said Gary Howard was shot in the chest just after 1 a.m. in the 1000 block of Boykin Avenue.

Howard was taken to Central Carolina Hospital where he died.

Detectives are searching for the shooter. No arrests have been made.
