2 shot in Harnett County, 1 dead

SPRING LAKE, N.C. (WTVD) -- Harnett County Sheriff Wayne Coats says one person is dead and another wounded in a shooting just north of Fort Bragg.

It happened in the 300-block of McKay Drive in the Spring Lake area just before midnight.

Deputies said when they got there, they found a group of women holding the shooting suspect - 30-year-old Terrell White of Siler City. White ran when deputies approached, but he was quickly captured.

The sheriff said both victims were sitting in a car when they were shot and had argued with White.

The dead man was identified as 22-year-old Lawrence Wallace of Spring Lake. The wounded person was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. The person - who has not been named - is expected to recover.

White is charged with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder. He is in the Harnett County Detention Center with no bond.
