First of two holes patched after water main break on Wakefield Pines Drive in Raleigh (WTVD)

A water main break near three Raleigh schools could have a major effect on students getting to class.

Part of Wakefield Pines Drive is closed near Wakefield High School, not far from the middle and elementary schools.

Officials say a pipe broke underground Thursday sometime about 7 p.m. They add that it appears no homes or businesses have lost water due to the break.

There's no estimated time of repair, but utility crews have been working around the clock in hopes of minimizing traffic disruptions.

The closure is impacting traffic in the area, but Wakefield schools are still open.
