Triangle schools are excited about the solar eclipse.

The Great American Solar Eclipse will provide a unique opportunity and challenge in some cases for year-round school.

The eclipse will peak around 2:45 in the afternoon. That's when schools are either still in session or letting out.

Thales Academy has various campuses across the area, and school officials have decided to dismiss early mainly because the peak of the eclipse will occur during their carpool time.

Other schools plan on having eclipse programs.

That's the case at Pleasant Union Elementary in Raleigh.

Right now, they plan on taking the children out to the soccer field to view the eclipse Monday. Principal Kevin Biles says that the eclipse is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and he's excited that the students will get a chance to participate.
