Watch: Thousands of fire ants float in flood waters in Houston

Thousands of red ants float on top of flood waters in Houston. (WTVD)

There's no rescue mission for them, but fire ants are doing whatever they need to, in order to survive the major flooding in Houston.

The insects used their bodies to build a floating island on top flood waters to keep their colony together.

These colonies can sometimes contain up to 100,000 ants.
