1 dead following fatal stabbing in Spring Lake

SPRING LAKE (WTVD) -- Spring Lake police confirm that one man has died after being stabbed Saturday evening.

Authorities said the incident happened just before 4:30 in the 400 block of D Street.

When officers arrived, they found 39-year-old Derrick Ervin lying on the ground in the front yard of a mobile home, bleeding from his chest.

Officers performed CPR until EMS arrived.

Ervin has then transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Police arrested 39-year-old Jacolby Floyd and charged him with first-degree murder.

He was taken to the Cumberland County Detention Center.
