Child assault allegations against Knightdale daycare being investigated.

KNIGHTDALE, North Carolina (WTVD) -- An employee at the KinderCare Learning Center in Knightdale is under investigation for allegedly choking a 6-year-old boy on Tuesday.

According to reports from both Knightdale PD and KinderCare, the child alerted his mother and officers responded to the school at 200 Forest Drive.

Knightdale PD responded to the incident and began an investigation. EMS also evaluated the boy for injuries or signs of injuries. Authorities have yet to deny or confirm whether the boy sustained any injuries.

Knightdale KinderCare, declined to comment to ABC11 and referred questions to their corporate headquarters.

Records from the Division of Child Development and Early Education do not show any major violations from the school within the past 3 years.

Via email, KinderCare has confirmed the employee involved in the incident has been placed on administrative leave. Furthermore, the center is in contact with CPS and licensing to determine possible further action.

The learning center has also said it's too early to make a decision on the employee.

Knightdale Police said KinderCare staff has been fully cooperative with the investigation.
