Hillsborough police seek armed suspect who robbed hotel

HILLSBOROUGH, North Carolina (WTVD) -- Hillsborough police are seeking a man they say robbed a hotel in southern Hillsborough about 2:30 a.m. Monday.

The robber allegedly entered the lobby of the Holiday Inn Express at 202 Cardinal Drive, displayed a handgun, and demanded money from the clerk. He then ran from the hotel with an undisclosed amount of cash. The clerk was not injured.

Hillsborough police and a K9 officer from the Carrboro Police Department responded. The police dog was able to track the man's scent to the parking lot of a nearby apartment complex, but he wasn't found.

The suspect is described as a black man, between 6 feet 1 and 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighing 170 to 190 pounds.
