YOUNGSVILLE, North Carolina (WTVD) -- 'Tis the season to be frightful, and that's the mission of Youngsville's Panic Point haunted theme park.

"We're trying to provide a scary yet fun experience for everyone," co-owner Geoff Huguely told ABC11. "The best part is when people our age, and our size, get scared and don't even want to go in the attractions. They think they're real tough."

Huguely's business partner, Brian Garff, is also his brother-in-law. The two opened Panic Point in 2011 after visiting a friend's haunted house in Maryland.

Together, they work through all seasons preparing for Halloween, including building the sets and hiring some 90 actors who are hidden throughout the grounds.

"Our actors can smell the fear," Garff warned to ABC11. "They know what they need to scare you. Sometimes it's a jump scare, sometimes they're going to freak you out or gross you out. You'll have to come find out."

The 48-acre park off Cedar Point Road offers six different attractions and features a total of 27 unique horror-filled scenes. The Haunted Forest is Panic Point's darkest crown jewel - a half-mile trek through the Voodoo Shack, Clown House, Strobe Maze, Sanatorium, Graveyard, and more.

Other activities include the Killers in the Corn maze, the Zombie Shootout, and Haunted Hayride.

"You've got screams from the hayride, screams from the forest, screams from Killers in the Corn," Garff said.

Indeed, there is actually a scenario that does scare the owners: rain. A washout of one weekend day could cost them 15 percent of their business.

Panic Point is located at 2808 Cedar Creek Rd Youngsville, NC 27596.

The park opens at 7:00 p.m. and closes between 10:00 p.m. and midnight depending on the evening. The park's remaining days open are October 13-14, 20-21, 22 (18 and older only), 26-31, and November 4.
