For many children in the Triangle, Halloween means trick-or-treating, but for those in the hospital, it's not an option.

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- For many children in the Triangle, Halloween means trick-or-treating, but for those in the hospital, it's not an option.

So, the Carolina Hurricanes brought the fun to them by dressing in costumes, signing autographs, and handing out candy.

Seven players arrived at WakeMed Children's Hospital in Raleigh dressed for the holiday:

  • Jaccob Slavin - Stormtrooper

  • Marcus Kruger - Nerd

  • Brock McGinn - Dinosaur

  • Victor Rask - Tacky Tourist

  • Joakim Nordstrom - Shark

  • Noah Hanifin - Ninja Turtle

"(It's) for them to have a change of pace, do something different, and brighten their day up," explained player Scott Darling. "It keeps everything in perspective to remind you how fortunate you are to be healthy and be where you're at in your life."

Patients and family members loved the smiles the players brought to the faces of patients. Staff also loved the Halloween treat.

Along with WakeMed Children's Hospital, players also visited patients at UNC Rex Healthcare and UNC Children's - North Carolina Children's Hospital.
