PHILADELPHIA -- A 72-year-old man died after going into a hole to rescue his dog in Philadelphia's Fairmount Park section.

It happened around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday on the 4700 block of South Concourse Drive.

Authorities said the dog fell in a two and a half by six feet hole, and the man went in to help, but couldn't get out.

Police said the man's death was accidental.
