Pedestrian struck, killed on US 401 in Garner

GARNER (WTVD) -- Garner police are investigating after a pedestrian was struck and killed on Highway 401 Friday morning.

Officers said the incident happened after 7 a.m. on Highway 401 near Mechanical Boulevard.

North and southbound lanes are closed, in addition to Pinewinds Drive; roads are expected to reopen after 8 a.m.

Police have yet to release details surrounding the crash or the deceased's identity.
