Anonymous donor helps family without air conditioning

FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- ABC11 Together highlights good deeds, community needs, and how you can help.

You really came through for a young mother in Fayetteville and her infant sweating it out in the heat of the summer without any air conditioning.

Certainly it was as a sad story, but it ended happily thanks to the kindness of a stranger.

For the first time in over a year, Angel Morris felt the relief of cool air in her home and the warmth of human kindness in her heart on Wednesday evening.

"Anonymously donating something to a stranger, it blows my mind. It's so amazing," she said. "I might not know who she is, but she is the nicest person I know of."

Morris, her 9-month-old son, and husband lived in a Fayetteville home with no air conditioning. She said the landlord refused to put air conditioning in the rental home. She said the summer heat wave has been terrible for her and her son.

"It's miserable," Morris said. "It makes me feel worse that I have my baby and he has to deal with the heat."

She said it's often cooler outside than inside the home. A box fan didn't help very much.

Her story touched our hearts earlier this week. On Wednesday, an anonymous donor purchased two window air conditioning units at the Lowe's Building Store in Fayetteville. Morris picked up the units with a smile and tears of joy.

"I'm really at a loss for words. I am really happy," she said.

Morris' brother quickly unpacked the units, and got them blowing cool air. It's a blessing from an anonymous donor that Morris may never meet, but will never forget.

"I just say thank you. God bless you, I am extremely happy," said Morris. "I'm actually going to be able to use a blanket. I am so happy."
