FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- The state Court of Appeals has rejected a request from the mother of five-year-old Shaniya Davis to overturn her convictions.

Last October, Antoinette Davis entered Alford pleas to charges including second-degree murder and conspiracy.

Prosecutors said Davis handed the child over for $200 to settle a drug debt.

Antoinette Davis is currently serving a sentence of at least 17 years in prison.
