Gregory Scott Corbett faces robbery with a dangerous weapon charges and three counts of first-degree kidnapping.

BENSON, N.C. (WTVD) -- Benson police have charged a former police officer in connection with a bank robbery.

Gregory Scott Corbett faces robbery with a dangerous weapon charges and three counts of first-degree kidnapping.

Officials say Corbett went into the First Federal Bank in Benson on Friday and pulled out a gun before demanding money.

They say he then forced employees into the bank vault.

Corbett was previously charged with a bank robbery back in the 1990s. He once worked as a police officer in Selma and Clayton before leaving in the mid 1990s.

He is currently being held in the Johnston County Jail under a $500,000 bond.
