RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Some homeowners off Forestville Road in North Raleigh are complaining of cracked windows and walls because of nearby construction. They told ABC11 that the work is just getting started and they fear things in their neighborhood will only get worse.

The developer plans to put in 22 homes. However, before anything goes up, there is bedrock he needs to break and drilling might take place in people's backyards.

"Glass can break. Walls are going to start cracking now even more than they're doing right now," said resident Marcos Lara.

Residents say some pre-construction work has already caused problems, like cracked walls or windows.

"The sheet rock is where it's splitting," said Lara.

"When they had the graders out, it rocked our houses. It rocked our house violently. I can't even imagine what dynamite might do," said another resident, who didn't want to give his name. "Being the proximity so close, it has the potential to do some real damage,"

The developer told ABC11 that crews need to break a small portion of bedrock to put in water lines, sewer lines, and storm drains. He said the work is standard procedure for new construction and if drilling takes a place, it will be done under registered control.

The developer plans to start work on the bedrock in about two weeks. Crews will try to break it up with a hammer. If that doesn't work, then they'll have to use dynamite.
