Body of missing swimmer found in Spring Lake pond

SPRING LAKE, N.C. (WTVD) -- The body of a missing swimmer was found late Saturday afternoon in Spring Lake.

Police said a group of friends were swimming in the pond off Britania Road when one person didn't come back up.

Dive teams from several departments searched the dark and deep water for three hours.

The Fayetteville Observer reports that the body was recovered around 5 p.m.

Authorities have not identified the victim yet.
