Bomb threat empties Fayetteville VA hospital
All-clear given after dogs searched for explosives

FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- Staff and patients at the VA Hospital in Fayetteville were evacuated Thursday morning after a bomb threat.

Police officers were called to the hospital off Ramsey Street around 8:35 a.m.

All entrances to the facility were quickly closed off while emergency personnel used dogs to search for explosives.

All 15 buildings on the VA campus - with the exception of inpatient care in the main building - were evacuated.

The buildings were declared safe by 10:30 a.m.

The FBI was called in to investigate, and said there is "no evidence" that the incident was connected to any other matters involving VA facilities. Officials would not say how the threat came in.

The VA said that patients who did not receive care Thursday morning because of the threat will be seen today.
