FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- More than half a dozen cars were vandalized overnight in the parking lot of a Fayetteville assisted living complex.

Residents at the Heritage Place Senior Living Community woke up to broken car windows Wednesday morning. The complex is located on North Cool Springs Street.

Fayetteville Police confirm nine vehicles were damaged in apparent "smash-and-grabs" for loose change.

A Hope Mills Glass repairman was on site early in the day. No one with Heritage Place was immediately available for comment Wednesday morning.

"It just makes me angry, and something needs to be done about security out there," said the daughter of one resident, whose car was broken into overnight.

The woman wished to remain anonymous.
