Cary homeowners are concerned about a new shopping center

CARY, N.C. (WTVD) -- Some Cary homeowners went door-to-door Saturday trying to stop what they consider a 'scary' new development.

The members of Neighbors Against Amberly Village are looking for signatures on a petition to block a proposed big box shopping center near Green Level Church and Carpenter Fire Station roads.

They said they have enough shopping centers already and the increased traffic, noise, and light are too much for their family oriented community.

"I expected residential, and that's what it's zoned for. I expect it, fine with having some neighbors in the back yard," said homeowner Matt Schwabel. "I just don't want to have trash loading and unloading, and trucks coming in at all hours of the night."

They have already voiced their opposition to the Cary Town Council and are asking other residents to show up at a public hearing Nov. 19.
