Cary boutique's final sale gives back to law enforcement
CARY, N.C. (WTVD) -- The last day of business for Cary's BeYOUtiful Butterfly Boutique was an opportunity for area law officers to receive a unique thank you from owner April Metcalf. She gave away much of her remaining inventory, after checking for proper identification.
She extended her act of kindness to an Army veteran visiting Cary from Florida with his daughter and granddaughter. Frank Rose was on his way to another location in the Walnut Street mall where Metcalf operated her business when he stopped by. He was curious about the decorations and food Metcalf had inside her store. That's when she explained her concept, then invited him to participate.
"Anything you can stick in the bag is our gift to you," she said.
Rose responded, "I already got everything in the bag. Your love! You gotta think of other people before you think of yourself. At least that's what we thought in the military."
Metcalf said she's motivated by her faith. "The Lord has blessed me so, for many, many years. So when we opened this store, we said everything that's going in will be to glorify God."
While she takes no credit for the inspiration, she tells us she is happy to serve those who serve the community. And she says her mission will continue after the store shuts its doors.
She has a social media presence as BEYOUtiful Butterfly Boutique and says while she hasn't decided where her brick and mortar business will go next, "They can definitely follow us on Facebook, and they can find out the details as we go."
The remainder of the inventory from her store will go to the Raleigh Rescue Mission.
