Charges upgraded in fatal Raleigh crash

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Prosecutors have increased the charge against a man accused of causing a fatal Raleigh crash in June.

Christopher Scott Thompson, 20, was originally charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle in the June 29 head-on accident that happened around 2 a.m. in the 500 block of Tryon Road. He's now charged with involuntary manslaughter.

Twenty-five-year-old Brittany Ann Phelps died when her car was hit by Thompson's car.

Thompson and two passengers were hurt.
