A police chase has ended with a car crash in the area of Tarboro Road and Highway 401 east of Youngsville.

YOUNGSVILLE, N.C. (WTVD) -- A police chase involving Wake County sheriff's deputies has ended with a car crash in the area of Tarboro Road and U.S. Highway 401 east of Youngsville.

Pictures from Chopper 11 HD showed firefighters working to free someone from the wreckage of a BMW that hit a pickup truck head-on.

The Wake County Sheriff's Office said deputies attempted to stop the BMW around 2 p.m. near the intersection of East Young Street and Main Street in Rolesville. Deputies said the vehicle refused to stop and the chase went into Franklin County.

That's when a deputy attempted to use "stop sticks" to flatten the BMW's tires. The driver tried to go around the device and collided with the pickup truck.

Both the suspect and the driver of the truck were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
