Police are investigating after an 8-year-old boy was hit by a car on Rock Quarry Road in Raleigh.

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- An 8-year-old boy who was hit by a car in Raleigh late Monday morning, has died.

Police said Jahlen Williams was crossing Rock Quarry Road in the area of Crosslink Road around 11:15 a.m. with mother when he was hit by a car driven by 29-year-old Dantrail McAllister. There was not a crosswalk in the area.

Williams was rushed to WakeMed in critical condition, where he later died from his injuries early Wednesday morning.

After the accident happened, many motorists in the area called 911.

911 Caller: "A child has been struck by a car."

911 Caller: "We're going to try to do CPR on him, but I don't think it's going to work."

Witnesses said Williams and his mother had just gotten off of a CAT bus when the boy was struck.

No charges have been filed.
