LEVITTOWN -- A Long Island mother was arrested after police say she was found high in her car with her infant in the backseat.

Authorities say 28-year-old Jessica Rosengart was found passed out, semi-conscious and slumped over inside her Dodge Dart in Levittown Monday afternoon.

The vehicle was locked and the windows were closed.

Police say the infant was sweating profusely in a car seat.

Rosengart opened the door after police repeatedly banged on the window.

Police found a hypodermic needle and three glassine bags of heroin. They say Rosengart violated a court order of protection by having unsupervised contact with the infant.

The baby was taken to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment for heat exhaustion, where he was held overnight for observation.

Rosengart was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, reckless endangerment and criminal contempt.
