FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- Crews battled a house fire in Fayetteville on Wednesday evening that left a family without a place to stay.

The Fire Department said it happened at 6406 Kimridge Road, in the Loch Lomond subdivision off of South Reilly Road around 7 p.m.

Officials said the fire apparently started in the kitchen of the two-story home.

The family, two adults and one child, were able to escape the home safely. However, the smoke and heat damage displaced the family of three, authorities said.

They did not need the Red Cross' assistance.
