FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- Charges of drunken driving cost a Cumberland County deputy his job.

Rickey Caldwell, 31, was arrested Friday morning after his car went off the road, and struck a tree after flipping over around 2:45 a.m. on Alderman and School Roads.

The State Highway Patrol said Caldwell registered a .14 on his breathalyzer test. The state limit is .08.

Caldwell submitted his resignation Friday.

He's due in court on Oct. 21.
