Man leads police on chase in dump truck in Iredell County

IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) -- A three-hour-long standoff involving the driver of a dump truck ended with the man surrendering peacefully to deputies Thursday evening.

It all unfolded near a rest stop on Interstate 77 in Iredell County.

Deputies say the standoff started as an armed robbery in Statesville.

The robber then got into the dump truck and fled.

That man is in custody, and being questioned by authorities.
