Drowning victim found in Roxboro

ROXBORO (WTVD) -- The body of a man who drowned in a fishing accident Saturday evening has been found.

Person County Sheriff's deputies spent hours searching for Lazarus Clay after the boat he was on overturned in a pond off of Jack Brann Road near Old Allensville Road in Roxboro. His body was later found early Sunday morning.

Another man on the boat, Bernice Wilkerson, survived. He told authorities Clay went under water and didn't come back up after the boat capsized.

It was unclear what caused the boat to overturn.
