DURHAM (WTVD) -- Durham police have arrested five teenagers in connection with a string of armed robberies that happened in less than an hour late Thursday night.

Police tell ABC11 that the four robberies occurred between 10 and 11 p.m. along the 2400 block of Holloway Street, 2800 block of Wedgedale Avenue, 1500 block of Glenn School Road and 500 block of Hardee Street.

Police said over a dozen people were robbed of their cash, cell phones, and purses. One person was hurt during the robberies, but the injury was not life-threatening.

Authorities arrested 18-year-old Dremar Webb - who is currently on probation - 17-year-old Dexter Webb, and 17-year-old Trayveion Jackson. Jackson is a student at Riverside High School and used to play for the varsity football team. All three are from Durham and are currently being held in the county jail under $3 million bond. They are charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.

Two 15-year-olds were also taken into custody in connection with the crimes. The Office of Juvenile Justice is handling the juveniles' cases.

Their arrests came after a tip from the community. Residents living on Hardee Street saw them escape into the woods. A K-9 officer later caught up with suspects off Cheek Road.

"Our hope is that we in the community can give our young people more things to do to keep them away from these kinds of things," said Will Glenn with the Durham Police Department. "It's unfortunate when young people are doing these kinds of things. It's our job to keep Durham safe and secure."
