FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- A Fayetteville family is in need of a place to stay after fire destroyed their apartment Monday afternoon.
The blaze started just before 5 p.m. in a two-story apartment building on the 5400 block of Wichita Drive.
Firefighters say one unit received heavy damage to the first and second floors.
Five adults and three children are getting assistance from the American Red Cross.
No one was injured, and a cat was rescued from the building.
Investigators believe unattended cooking started the fire, which has been ruled an accident.
