Fayetteville nursing home owner accused of stealing from patients
FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office has charged a Fayetteville nursing home owner with stealing money and pain medication from elderly patients in her care.
Victoria Diane White, 54, of Johnson Road, is charged with three counts of financial transaction card theft, 11 counts of obtaining property by false pretense, one count of conspiracy, three counts of trafficking opiates by delivery, one count of conspiring to traffic opiates, one count of obtaining controlled substances by fraud, one count of trafficking opium/heroin by possession and one count trafficking opiates by sale.
Deputies said White owns Miracle Restoration Inc., a Family Care Home, located on Old Savannah Church Road.
The investigation began in mid-April when deputies got a complaint that White stole an elderly resident's bank card and used it to withdraw $250.
White allegedly gave the card to a friend who also used it. Deputies allege White used money stolen from patients to buy cocaine and traded pain medication for crack cocaine.
Miracle Restoration, Inc. is a family care or adult home licensed through the Department of Health and Human Services and is overseen by the Department of Social Services.
It currently houses three residents between the ages of 62 and 90.
White's bond was set at $100,000.
