RALEIGH (WTVD) -- A Raleigh mom and her two children are devastated after a fire destroyed the home the family was renting. Their dog was inside when flames ripped through the home and the family pet didn't make it out alive.

"My daughters loved her and now she's gone," said Keshia Spearman. "I've lived here for five years. I've never had a problem."

Spearman says she left the home in the 800-block of Beverly Drive around 6:45 p.m. Friday. An hour later, her phone rang.

"A neighbor calls me and says the house is on fire," said Spearman.

Spearman told ABC11 she was at her grandmother's house, which is right up the street. She had been in the process of moving out. She brought clothes and furniture to her grandmother's place. She left behind 3-year-old Chloe and was planning to come back to get the dog.

The intense fire caused a great deal of damage at the home. The ranch-style home was destroyed. When firefighters arrived, flames were pouring out of the windows.

Fire officials don't know where the fire started. Investigator are trying to figure out what caused the blaze.

Spearman and her daughters will be staying with the grandmother.
