DURHAM (WTVD) -- Flames tore through a home in Durham Wednesday night.
Firefighters responded to a house in the 2500 block of Chapel Hill Road around 8:25 p.m.
When they arrived, heavy flames and smoke were pouring from the first floor and roof.
Everyone inside got out safely and no one was hurt.
Investigators say the fire started in a dryer that was running at the time, but what caused the dryer to catch fire is uncertain. They say there was a violent thunderstorm in the area when the fire started.
