An eyewitness rescued a family from their burning home on Sunday

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Authorities said a child playing with a lighter accidentally started a house fire on Sunday morning.

Firefighters were called to the 5000 block of Casland Drive around 8:30 a.m. They arrived to find flames and heavy smoke coming from the second floor.

Javier Pinto said he saw the flames and raced to the home to warn the family.

It took 35 firefighters about 45 minutes to get the fire under control. More than half of the house is destroyed.

There were no injuries, and the fire was ruled accidental. Red Cross was called to assist the four people who lived in the home.
