CARY, NC (WTVD) -- Firefighters had a blaze at a condominium building in the 36-hundred block of Wellington Ridge Loop in east Cary under control in about 30 minutes Wednesday evening.

The first call came in around 7:20 p.m. for a balcony fire, but when firefighters arrived they found significant flames coming from the rear of the building and a second alarm was called.

There are six units in each Wellington Ridge building and it appeared at least two were badly damaged.

Thirteen people and five pets were evacuated.

"It's a hot night tonight. [The] firefighters have done really good. We've rotated people in and out. That's one of the reasons we called for a second alarm on this event. [There are] no injuries to report and all the occupants and all the pets made it out safe," said Loren Cone, Assistant Fire Chief with the Town of Cary.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
