North Carolina flags are flying at half-staff in remembrance of the former Lumbee Tribal chairman Jimmy Goins.

Gov. Pat McCrory ordered the flags lowered on state building from sunrise to sunset on Thursday.

Goins served as leader of the Lumbee people from 2004-2010. The Vietnam veteran was killed in a single-vehicle accident on Sunday afternoon in Robeson County.

Goins was 66 years old.
