Food Lion cooks up Christmas feast for families affected by Hurricane Matthew

FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- It was a special night for nearly a dozen families impacted by Hurricane Matthew in Cumberland County.

Food Lion cooked-up a special meal for the families - and even handed out early Christmas presents.

There were lots of oohs and aahs around these dinner tables Monday night, as families hard hit by Matthew celebrated their resilience.

"To help these families is a blessing," said Kimberly Wilkinson, a Food Lion employee. "I know personally, been through the same tragic experience, but just helping others, it helps me also get through it."
