Former Franklin Co. teacher charged with sex with students
FRANKLIN COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) -- Sheriff's deputies arrested a former employee with the Franklin County School System on Friday and charged him with various sex offenses involving students while he was still employed.
Deputies said Damien Demont Jacobs, a Franklin County resident, is charged with two counts of statutory rape and five counts of sexual act with a student by a school employee.
According to authorities, several offenses are reported to have occurred while Jacobs was employed with the school system and while the alleged victims were students.
A spokesperson with Franklin County Schools released a statement regarding Jacobs' arrest. The statement revealed Jacobs worked part-time as a youth camp counselor for Franklin County Schools from July 2005 to Nov. 2006. In Dec. 2008, he began working at a substitute bus driver and substitute teacher.

From August 2010 until his resignation on May 19, 2015, Jacobs worked full-time as a teacher assistant, bus driver, and cafeteria employee for Franklin County Schools. During the period of his employment with Franklin County Schools, there were no allegations against Jacobs of any sexual misconduct.
Franklin County Schools and its administrators have cooperated with the Franklin County Sheriff's Office throughout their investigation and will continue to support their efforts. All allegations of sexual misconduct are taken very seriously by Franklin County Schools.

Jacobs is being held at the Franklin County Detention Center under a $125,000 secured bond.
