Fort Bragg soldier shot during attempted robbery

FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- A Fort Bragg soldier was shot Saturday night during an attempted robbery in Fayetteville.

The shooting happened just after 9 p.m. in the 300 block of Crabapple Circle, off Reilly Road.

According to police, the soldier was sitting outside his apartment when two men approached him. The three men started talking and at some point, one of the suspects asked the soldier for a cigarette and a drink.

When the soldier got up to go and get the drink, the suspects pulled out guns and attempted to rob him. He was shot in the leg and tried to run.

His injury isn't life threatening.
