Police say the incident ended in the area of Town Hall on North Academy Street near the police station where one of vehicles crashed.

CARY, N.C. (WTVD) -- Cary police have arrested two people after the occupants of a car allegedly started shooting at another car in the area of Park Street and Harrison Avenue around 2:30 p.m. Thursday.

It's near that area where the 911 calls started to come in. One caller reported: "Someone was out of the moon roof, sunroof -- not the driver -- the passenger, was out of the sunroof with a gun pointing at the other car."

Another told the dispatcher: "We just had two cars go up a side road real fast. One guy was out of the passenger side up in the air. He had a gun pointing. He shot at another car."

While police were trying to pinpoint an exact location, another 911 call came in on behalf of the alleged target of those gunshots: "We have a gentleman who just walked in and said somebody was with a gun outside and following him."

Police say the incident ended in the area of Town Hall on North Academy Street near the police station where one of vehicles crashed on the sidewalk. The second vehicle was located just around the corner. No one was hurt.

"At this point, we believe the incident is related to a drug deal," said Cary Police Capt. Randall Rhyne.

Chase Austin McKinley, 18, of Raleigh, and Nicholas Scott Jenkins, 21, of Raleigh, are each charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and attempted first-degree murder.

According to arrest warrants, McKinley and Jenkins used a 9mmm Beretta handgun to shoot at Octavious Osha Robinson.

If convicted, McKinley and Jenkins could face over 32 years in jail. At their first appearance Friday afternoon, Wake County District Court Judge Jennifer Knox assigned public defenders to both men. They were sent back to the Wake County Detention Center, each under a $1 million bond.

Jenkins was already on probation for a 2013 breaking and entering and larceny conviction. He faces pending charges for violating a domestic violence restraining order and has been charged with felony assault in the past.

The pair are due back in court October 9.
