FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- Seniors at Seventy-First High School in Fayetteville graduated Friday but there was a glaring absence.
The school's principal, Myron Williams, was seriously burned during a senior cookout Thursday afternoon.
Williams was with the students in spirit. ABC11 learned that Williams watched a live video stream of the graduation at the UNC Jaycee Burn Center in Chapel Hill.
Williams was burned Thursday when a propane gas grill he was trying to light exploded at a park. He was airlifted to UNC.
Williams suffered second and third-degree burns on his shoulder arm and hands. No one else was hurt.
There's no word yet on how long Williams will remain in the hospital.
