Report of car crashing into Falls Lake unfounded

DURHAM (WTVD) -- The North Carolina Highway Patrol said Monday a report a car left Interstate 85 and landed in Falls Lake was unfounded.

Troopers investigated after 911 callers reported seeing the accident.

There were skid marks and damage to a guard rail, but no car was visible from the road.

A dive team was called in to search the water, but nothing was found.
